Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio on Thursday launched an electronic book aimed at educating the Filipino people and the rest of the world about the South China Sea dispute.
Titled “Philippine Sovereign Rights and Jurisdiction in the West Philippine Sea: The South China Sea Dispute,” the 264-page e-book is a compilation of Carpio’s numerous lectures about the issue here and abroad.
During the e-book’s launch at the Manila Polo Club in Makati City, Carpio said the e-book is intended to inform Filipinos about the vast maritime areas and rich natural resources they own under international law.
“Once the Filipinos realize that these maritime areas and resources belong to them and to future generations of Filipinos as affirmed with finality by an UNCLOS (United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea) arbitral tribunal, then the Filipino people will never allow any government administration, any government agency or any government official to give away or compromise maritime areas or resources in favor of a foreign state in violation of the Constitution,” he said.
