China’s fishery law focus of Asean gab

The new fishing regulations in the South China Sea being implemented by Hainan, China’s southernmost province, was one of the topics that was discussed on Thursday during the Association of Southeast Nations Foreign Ministers Meeting held in Bagan, Myanmar.

The annual meeting, which also discussed other security and economic concerns relevant to the regional bloc, was attended by all the foreign ministers of the members of the ASEAN, including the Philippines’ Albert del Rosario.

Even as Del Rosario is making known Manila’s position on the issue, Department of National Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin asked  Filipino fishermen to ignore the new fishing regulations issued by Hainan.
