WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik – 21st December, 2018) US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Philippine Secretary of Foreign Affairs Teodoro Locsin, Jr. in a meeting in Washington, DC spoke about what have been done to address the territorial dispute in the South China Sea, the Department of State said in a press release.

“The two Secretaries discussed ongoing efforts to address regional issues such as the South China Sea, North Korea, and counterterrorism,” the release stated on Thursday.

Pompeo and Locsin also exchanged views on boosting people-to-people ties between the two countries and partnering on strengthening the Philippines’ energy security, the release added.

Pompeo stressed during the meeting that the United States continues to stand by the enduring US-Philippines alliance, including commitments under the Mutual Defense Treaty of 1951, the release noted.
